Battling
Battling here in Sunford works similarly as in the games but not completely so. You're allowed to use one damaging move ( or ) and one status move () per post. When both you and your opponent have posted once, a turn has passed. Status moves are those attack which lowers the opponent's stats, induces status-conditions or heightens the user's stats. Damaging moves is pretty self-explanatory.
Since we don't use HP, PP or Stats over here but we still take some stats into consideration. A Shuckle probably won’t go down in one hit thanks to its massive defenses. Your level 7 Gible won’t survive a Blizzard from a level 40 Lapras. Types and abilities must be taken into consideration as well as the base power and accuracy of the attack used. The Lapras won’t be able to spit out Blizzard for that many turns either because of its low PP in the games. We won’t count the amount of attacks you have used but just keep the basics in mind.
Dodges are allowed, but don't abuse this mechanic. The mod in or watching over your thread will make sure you don't keep dodging every single attack. If you do then your Pokémon will be considered flinching and your opponent will receive two guaranteed hits.
As for pokecentre's, you can see we don't have them! Healing a Pokemon is simple, you can't in a battle without a berry or item or move. If the battle ends or is paused as agreed by both parties, then your Pokemon will begin to heal. It takes 3 whole turns for a Pokemon to heal fully and they will, full hp and stats, and ready to battle again! This way you can have one starter battle and then rest while your second or that new Pokemon you caught battles, makes leveling easier and saves on un-needed boards.
If you don't know what some attacks do, How powerful it is or need any other information, Check it out on any of these sites: Serebii, Bulbapedia
Movesets
In Sunford you're allowed to have 6 moves per Pokémon, and you need to make sure they're listed on your Pokémon’s info. Remember to label the moves correctly in your PC with either Move Tutor move or Egg move , just to avoid confusion. The moves the Pokémon has learned without any external help remains unlabeled. As an example:
This is a normal moveset for a Sceptile of that level. Take note of that it hasn't learned Night Slash, a move that, according to the Pokédex, it should have acquired at level 1. But, since this Sceptile only became a Sceptile at level 36, it has only learned the moves that it was able to learn from that level onwards. That means, when a Pokémon evolves it cannot learn any moves that it should have learned earlier on. If you want a Pokémon to learn any moves that it was able to learn earlier on but did not, you can always go to the Move Tutor and (for the right price.) get them remembered.
Move tutor moves needs to be taught to your Pokémon by the resident Move Tutor, Mr. Osbert. He has traveled the world and learned all the move tutor moves from around the world. It is also Mr. Osbert that teaches the elemental Hyper Beams, Hydro Cannon, Frenzy Plant, and Blast Burn. His services are not for free however - Bring your coins!
